Biography


Donald W. Buggert was ordained a Carmelite priest in 1966 and appointed to the full-time faculty of the Union in 1972. Since 1987 he has been a guest professor of Christology for the summer graduate theology program at the University of Notre Dame, South Bend. His monograph and periodical writings deal with a variety of issues in foundational, systematic and spiritual theology. At present he is a member of the editorial board of The New Theology Review.

Professional Activities


In 1987 he co-founded the Commission of Bishops and Scholars, on which he served as executive secretary until 1997. In 1999 he was named to the board of directors of the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA), of which he is now vice-chair. He is a member of both the Catholic Theological Society of America and the Karl Rahner Society of America.
