Biography
“Joseph Mindling is a member of the Orders of Friars Minor Capuchin. He holds a doctorate in Scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome. He was ordained a priest in 1966 and has done extensive work in the area of retreats, spiritual direction, pastoral care, and Initial Formation within the Capuchin Province of St. Augustine. He has served as the rector of the International College of St. Lawrence of Brindisi in Rome, and works with the Hispanic and Vietnamese immigrant population in Washington DC
Professional Activities
Dr. Mindling joined the Washington Theological Union faculty in 1973 and currently serves as the President for the Faculty Senate and as Chair of the Department of Sacred Scripture. He is associate editor of the New Theology Review and serves on the editorial board of The Word Among Us. He is a member of the Catholic Biblical Association and the Society of Biblical Literature. He has written and lectured on the area of Biblical Metathanic Imagery and has published regularly in the series Devotional Commentaries currently being produced by the Word Among Us Press.
