Biography
Angela Senander joined the faculty
at the Washington Theological Union in 2004. She taught at St.
Joseph College in West Hartford, CT from 2001-2002 and at Boston
College from 2002-2004. Her doctoral dissertation was "Toward
Liberation from Abortion: A Catholic Reflection on Abortion
in the United States," written under the direction of Lisa
Sowle Cahill. Prior to graduate school, she taught moral theology
and social justice at a Catholic high school and worked as an
intern at the National Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Professional Activities
Dr. Senander has presented academic papers at meetings of the Catholic Theological Society of America, the Society of Christian Ethics, the College Theology Society, and the American Academy of Religion. She spent a semester as a visiting fellow at Woodstock Theological Center working on a book project that examines Catholic understandings of scandal and their implications for the Church in U.S. public life.
Dr. Senander has worked in collaboration with leaders of national ministerial associations to design and implement a summer institute for diocesan leaders of youth ministry, campus ministry and young adult ministry that assists them in developing intentional pathways to pastoral leadership. She serves on the editorial board of New Theology Review. She has given lectures for the Leadership Institute for Applied Catholic Social Teaching, Franciscan Mission Services, Ecumenical Advocacy Days for Global Peace with Justice, parishes and college students.
