7/2/08 - Campus Minister for Community Outreach and Mission


Location: St. Thomas Aquinas University Parish – Fayetteville, AR

Description: St. Thomas Aquinas University Parish serves the University community of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. The University is a mid-sized institution of approximately 18, 000 students, 5 - 10% of which are Catholic. Fayetteville is a wonderful college town nestled in the Ozark Mountains which has been rated as one of the 20 top places to live in the United States. St. Thomas ministers to approximately 700 students. The campus minister will work as a member of a collaborative team including the pastor, a fellow campus minister, campus ministry interns and an administrative assistant.

Requirements: The ideal candidate will be a practicing Roman Catholic possessing a master’s degree in theology or pastoral ministry. At least one year of experience in young adult or campus ministry is preferred. Experience in training and leading students in international and domestic missions, service projects, and small faith sharing groups is necessary. A working knowledge of development and fund raising, creating small publications, maintaining a website, and liturgical music ministry would be a plus.

Full-Time Religion Teacher – Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, Olney MD
Teaching 5 college-prep religion courses at various levels. • Teaching sections of one or more of these levels:

Freshman Year (Honors and Standard)
Introduces students to the study of religion and Catholicism through a thematic survey of the major ideas governing life in the Church, culminating with a study of the human person's sexuality and its relation to the whole person as well as relationships arising from our sexual nature. The second semester examines the Hebrew Scriptures through a critical and catechetical study of major themes.

Sophomore Year (Honors and Standard)
Introduces students to the world of Jesus of Nazareth as the Incarnation of God in Christian faith. The second semester traces the history of Christianity from its foundations through the present with a special emphasis on the major religious themes which guide this historical experience.

Junior Year
Introduces students to the major themes in Catholicism which are in dialogue with other major religious traditions of the world. The second semester focuses on the nature of the human person and the ideas which govern Catholic moral and ethical thought.
