Ceremony Location: Trinity Washington University (tentative)
The ceremony and reception will held on the campus of Trinity Washington University. The ceremony will be in Notre Dame Chapel (see campus map
); the reception in the Main Hall building. Trinity Washington University (formerly Trinity College) is located on Michigan Avenue, NE near Catholic University and the National Shrine (see local map).
Checklist for Prospective Graduates
- Satisfy language proficiency (MA only)
- Schedule general comprehensive exam (MA only)
- Submit comprehensive bibliography list (MA only)
- Schedule departmental comprehensive exam (MA only)
- Obtain approval of thesis, research or integrating paper topic (MA/MAPS)
- Order academic cap/gown and provide formal name for diploma/certificate
- Obtain Academic Dean's final approval of thesis, research or integrating paper
- Complete Graduating Student Questionnaire (see Enrollment Office)
- Return Union library books
- Pay all tuition, fees, and fines
- Provide Registrar forwarding address for grades
Please note that a minimum grade point average of 3.0 is necessary for graduation and lay degree students must have completed their formation requirement.
Graduation Information and Invitations
Packets will be mailed to students who have notified the Dean of their intent to graduate. Further information to be published in spring 2009.
Vincent Cushing Student Service Award
A graduating degree student who is nominated and selected by the Union Community who has demonstrated singular service to enriching the life of the Union Community over the course of his/her enrollment and study at the Union. Further information to be pulbished in Spring 2009.
James Coriden Valedictor
A graduating degree student who is nominated by his/her graduating classmates to render a brief farewell on behalf of his/her graduating classmates. Class members graduating will be invited to nominate a graduating degree student to be the James Coriden Valedictor. Nomination information to be published in Spring 2009.
Graduation Attire
Students receiving graduate certificates are to wear business attire for the ceremony. Students receiving degrees wear either cap/gown/hood or just hood for degree students in religious habit. Degree vesture is ordered and distributed by Academic Dean's Office at a time announced.
Graduation Ceremony Instructions
A complete set of graduation instructions will be mailed to each attending graduate shortly before the day of graduation covering a variety of topics regarding the Graduation Ceremony itself, including directions to the church, parking, where to assemble, seating, and other important items.
